About the Project
Metropolis Metamorphosis chronicles the development and transformation of contemporary cities, tracing the arc from humanity's earliest relationship with land through to the hyper-dense, ecology-depleted metropolises of today, and leaving space for what might come next.
The work unfolds as a visual timeline: each illustration captures a distinct era of urban evolution, tracking how cities have grown in scale, complexity, and disconnection from the natural world that sustains them.
The Arc of the City
The timeline moves through five distinct phases of urban history, each rendered as its own visual world in black and white sketch with red as a recurring accent.
The project concludes not with a verdict but with an open question: what might cities become if they chose differently?
